This Spring semester has been a long and tedious one. However, the one thing we've been waiting for happened last weekend. The National Summit Advertising Competition took place in the cities this past weekend of the 25th. This weekend has been a milestone in my life for two reasons.
One, is the experience. This competition has been a renown event which garners prestige and enhances personal capabilities beyond our known limits.
Two, there was a riot.http://www.twincities.com/vikings/ci_12232644 The topic of this years competition was to develop a campaign to combat over-consumption of alcohol among college age individuals. The night of our competition there was a riot a couple blocks north of Dinky Town. The irony of all this is astounding. We come to the Twin Cities to give a presentation on the effects of over-consumption of alcohol and what happens that very evening a huge street party that turns ugly. Why? because there were drugs involved. Not the conventional drugs that people endure to relax or because of glaucoma issues mind you. But the drugs that people consume in mass quantities on a nightly basis for the sole reason to, apparently, brush up against deaths shoulder in a swaying, vomiting stupor. Except for the destruction and violence, everything up to this point is perfectly legal. I'm proud to be an American.
